Hey RichA! Don't you think that this is a scam too?

The Nikkor 200-500 that is. Same price as the splash sealed Sigma Sport
and have a look at what they give you!

That copy of the Nikkor is soft and suffers from a lot of CA.

I think the Canon 1DsMKIII is doing in-body colour correction compared
to the old Nikon D3X. If you switch to the D810, it does more or less
the same thing.
In this comparison, the Sigma looks better though. But then that
particular Sigma is also $600 more than the Nikon, so I'd expect better
images.

The camera can handle the expected resolution, other samples shows that.
The problem is obviously the lens.

It went through Nikon QC and Nikon should stand by that that they ship!

I did my own testing with that lens. My go, no go results:
Sharp , contrasty, with faster focus tracking on my D500 than either the
Sigma, the expensive one, or the Tamron.
Practical limitation for me. I gave it the ultimate test, which it
failed. The lens was too heavy for me to carry for more than about an hour.

See my above posting. If no for the weight, I would now own it.

I get tired just carrying myself around for an hour.

Went to Nickerson last week, without my chair and caret. It too me
longer to get back to my car, than I spent shooting. ;-(
It was a big mistake not taking a chair.

BTW your comment about C/A:
While I didn't test for that, here's what Thom Hogan has to say:
